Ramdev Case

According to a government decree, the Uttarakhand medicines regulator has revoked the production licenses for 14 goods manufactured by pharmaceutical firms owned by yoga guru Ramdev due to their frequent publication of false advertisements about their efficacy.

The ruling is the most recent setback for Ramdev, who has gained popularity in India and other countries through his TV broadcasts, yoga treatments, and traditional medicine remedies for illnesses.

Ramdev has been under fire from the Supreme Court in recent weeks for defying its orders in an ongoing lawsuit to prohibit false advertising of several of his traditional ayurvedic medications.

The drug regulator of traditional medicines in Uttarakhand stopped the manufacturing permits of Ramdev’s firms on April 15. The injunction is not public, and Reuters is the first to report on it.

The 14 goods whose licenses were revoked included traditional remedies prescribed by Ramdev for diabetes, bronchitis, and asthma.

The state regulator’s Mithilesh Kumar said in his order that the manufacturing permits be “suspended with immediate effect”.

Ramdev’s representative stated that he was unable to comment at this time.

The Indian Medical Association is suing Ramdev in the Supreme Court on charges that his company, Patanjali, discredits traditional treatments and has published deceptive advertisements in defiance of a court order to cease.

Ramdev has acknowledged that his actions were a mistake, and his business has apologized to the public in newspaper ads. He has been asking for forgiveness in front of the highest court judges in recent weeks while wearing his signature saffron-colored robe, but the judges have not accepted his plea as of yet.

The judges are considering whether to press contempt charges against Ramdev or not.
