Maruti Says Safety Isn’t Just Airbags—Here’s How They’re Raising the Bar
Maruti Suzuki is sending a strong message to Indian car buyers: safety isn’t just an add-on—it’s a priority. The automaker now offers six airbags as standard across 14 of its 16 passenger vehicle models, covering every variant from the base to the top-end. Together, these 14 models make up over 97% of Maruti’s domestic sales.

Safety for Everyone, Not Just Premium Buyers
Speaking at the 65th SIAM Annual Convention, Maruti’s Partho Banerjee said, “We could have chosen to skip six airbags in entry-level models, but safety should be available to everyone, no matter which car they buy.” His message is clear: Maruti isn’t just checking boxes—they’re making sure every customer drives home safely.
Airbags Are Just the Beginning
Maruti isn’t stopping at airbags. Through its Arena Safety Shield and Nexa Safety Shield campaigns, the company is educating buyers about features like ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, reverse parking assist, ISOFIX child seats, and pedestrian safety features. Banerjee says, “Safety doesn’t only mean airbags—every feature plays a role in protecting you and your loved ones.”
