15-year-old Kanishka Solanki dies by suicide in Greater Noida. Family alleges school harassment. Police investigate. Learn full details and updates.
In a tragic incident that underscores the growing mental stress faced by students, a 15-year-old girl, Kanishka Solanki, died by suicide at her home in Greater Noida West on Monday. The family has accused her school and two teachers of persistent mental harassment, claiming it led to her untimely death.
Kanishka Solanki, a Class 10 student at Gagan Public School, allegedly jumped from the eighth floor of her residence. Police arrived at the scene shortly after being informed and sent her body for a post-mortem. No suicide note has been recovered so far. Initial reports suggested academic pressure and mental strain as potential triggers, but the case has since taken a serious turn following her family’s allegations.
Family Alleges Harassment by Teachers
According to Kanishka Solanki ’s father, Ravi Ranjan, his daughter had been facing repeated mental harassment and public humiliation by the school administration and her teachers, Poonam Dubey and Tapas. The family claims that on December 22, Kanishka inadvertently brought her mobile phone to school, for which she was reprimanded and subjected to further mental pressure in front of classmates.
Ravi Ranjan said, “The administration of Gagan Public School, along with the teachers, had been harassing my daughter for quite some time. They humiliated her in front of other students and caused unnecessary mental stress. Last Monday, I was called to the school and insulted in front of her. This deeply affected her emotional well-being, leading to this tragic outcome. The school and teachers are directly responsible for her death.”
School Denies Allegations
Parul Sardana, Principal of Gagan Public School, refuted the allegations, stating that “No child is subjected to mental harassment in our institution. These claims are completely false.”
Police Investigation Underway
The police have confirmed that the case is under active investigation. Family members and school staff are being questioned to determine the exact circumstances leading to Kanishka’s death. Authorities have highlighted the importance of sensitively handling such cases to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
This unfortunate incident brings to light the pressing need for schools to maintain a supportive and empathetic environment for students, particularly in handling mental and emotional challenges.
