Union Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare Shri J.P. Nadda and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav attended a national event marking World AIDS Day held in Indore on Sunday. Adressing the event, Union Minister Shri Nadda highlighted India’s united and determined fight against HIV/AIDS under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He noted that significant progress is being made in controlling the disease, thanks to focused and swift efforts initiated by the Central Government since 2017. Shri Nadda emphasized that the rights of individuals affected by HIV/AIDS are being safeguarded, ensuring their integration into the mainstream of society. These concerted efforts are yielding positive results and contributing to the broader goal of eradicating HIV/AIDS in the country.
Union Minister Shri Nadda said that everyone’s cooperation is necessary to achieve the goal of sustainable development. People affected by HIV should get human rights along with fundamental rights. There should not be any discrimination against them. We should respect their rights and give them the same respect that we give to any other normal person so that they can live a normal life. He said that the Central Government has set sustainable development goals to reduce the number of people affected by HIV/AIDS and reduce the number of deaths. This target will be accomplished by 2030. Union Minister Shri Nadda called upon all sections of society to recommit them to achieving the goal in this direction with new energy and new enthusiasm.
Union Minister Shri Nadda said that the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act 2017 was implemented. This Act is helping to prevent and control the spread of HIV/AIDS. The Act strengthens the legal and human rights of persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The Act also seeks to protect the rights of healthcare providers. He said that people affected by HIV/AIDS are being treated free of cost. India has established a new identity in the world in the field of health services, treatment, and medical education. Be it Corona management or the discovery of vaccines and medicines for the treatment of many infectious diseases, the country has taken a leading position in the world. Praising Madhya Pradesh for the expansion of health services and medical education, he said that this state is the leader in this field in the country.
Madhya Pradesh tops in the country in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme and health services
Union Minister Shri Nadda said that Madhya Pradesh is at the forefront in the expansion of medical education and health facilities in the country and is progressing. He also praised Madhya Pradesh for this. He said that new medical colleges have been opened rapidly in Madhya Pradesh and new medical colleges will be opened in future too. AIIMS has also been established in Bhopal. The number of seats in medical colleges has been increased. Madhya Pradesh also tops the country in the implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Working according to ‘Take the Rights Path’, we will achieve the global goal by 2028: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav expressed his gratitude to Union Minister Shri Nadda for organizing this programme in Indore on World AIDS Day. He said the event will bring together communities, youth, beneficiaries and various organizations to address the challenges and achieve the global goal of eliminating HIV/AIDS by 2030. We will endeavor to achieve the global goal by 2028 by working in line with the UN theme, “Take the Rights Path”. Such programmes will create awareness in society. It will help in fighting the war against HIV/AIDS. By bringing society together, awareness will be brought into the fight against HIV/AIDS.
New medical colleges are being established rapidly in the state
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav praised Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership during India’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, calling it a remarkable success in one of the most challenging periods of the century. He expressed optimism that similar determination and effort would lead to victory in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Dr. Yadav also extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Central Government for streamlining the process of establishing medical colleges, which has significantly accelerated the development of medical education in Madhya Pradesh. He highlighted that the simplified system has enabled the rapid establishment of new medical colleges across the state, boosting both medical education and healthcare services. Additionally, efforts are being made to promote treatments using alternative medical systems alongside allopathy, further expanding the scope and accessibility of health services in the state.
At the beginning of the program, Secretary of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,Sushri Punya Salila Srivastava gave the welcome speech. Principal Secretary Public Health and Family Welfare Shri Sandeep Yadav expressed gratitude.
Union Minister and Chief Minister purchased handmade items made by beneficiaries at Hunar Haat
Union Minister Shri Nadda and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also visited Hunar Haat, set-up to bring people affected by HIV/AIDS into the mainstream, during the event. It showcased a variety of handmade items made by the beneficiaries. Union Minister Shri Nadda and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav interacted with the beneficiaries and saw and appreciated the handicrafts produced by them. They also purchased handmade items made by the beneficiaries. An innovative exhibition was also organized at the venue, which showcased the achievements made by NACO through its digital eco-system, community engagement, campaign-based approach. On this occasion, the theme song of NACO was released. Its original singers Dev Negi, Moko Koza and Agsi also gave a melodious rendition of this song in the program. Apart from this, inspirational stories of beneficiaries and the transformative impact of NACO’s initiatives were showcased. Along with this, important publications were also released to further the mission of the organization. The guests also felicitated the beneficiaries in the programme.
