Cricketer Gautam Gambhir
Former cricket player for India and East Delhi MP for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Gautam Gambhir, stated that he wanted to give up politics.
Minister for Delhi Atishi claimed that Gautam Gambhir, the BJP MP, done “nothing for the East Delhi” after the cricketer-turned-politician asked party president JP Nadda to remove him from his position during a news conference on Saturday.
At a news conference, Atishi said, “BJP’s East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir has tweeted, expressing his wish to retire from his political life, indicating the BJP’s denial of a political ticket from East Delhi.”
“It’s BJP’s tendency to elect anybody without verifying their ability and dedication to the people,” she continued. Gautam Gambhir hasn’t accomplished anything in his field over the past five years.
Similar feelings were expressed by AAP leader Kuldeep Kumar, who said, “We are really sad. The people of East Delhi have been deceived by the BJP for the second time. In 2014, it was Gautam Gambhir; in 2019, it was Mahesh Giri. They arrived, prevailed, and then departed. Gautam Gambhir is unrelated to the residents of Delhi.”
“The public will not trust Gautam Gambhir and Mahesh Giri this time, and the BJP will not be able to win the East Delhi seat. People want someone who is truly theirs because they’ve had enough of these celebs, Kumar told ANI.
Former Indian cricket player and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of parliament for East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir, stated earlier in the day that he wanted to give up his political duties.
Gambhir announced the news on social media, tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda. He asked JP Nadda in writing to be relieved of his political responsibilities.
Gambhir stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that he has requested permission from BJP President JP Nadda to take a leave of absence from his political responsibilities in order to concentrate on his impending cricket commitments. He thanked Amit Shah and Narendra Modi for giving him the chance to help the public.
“I have asked to be released from my political responsibilities by Honorable Party President @JPNadda ji so that I can concentrate on my impending cricket obligations. I am deeply grateful to Hon’ble HM @AmitShah ji and Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji for providing me with this chance to help the public. “Jai Hind!,” posted Gambhir on X (formerly Twitter).
After joining the BJP in March 2019, Gambhir became one of the party’s most well-known figures in Delhi. Among his political achievements was his commanding 6,95,109 vote margin in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which he used to win the East Delhi seat.
