CM Bhagwant Singh : The project, estimated to cost Rs 10.31 crore, is set to be completed within the next eight months.
On Sunday, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann laid the foundation stone for the expansion of the District Administrative Complex (DAC) by adding the third and fourth floors at a cost of Rs 10.31 crore.
The Chief Minister described the occasion as a historic moment for the district, marking the commencement of the construction of two additional storeys in Block B of the DAC. The building, originally consisting of four blocks—A, B, C, and D—was constructed in 2004. In response to the space constraints faced by various offices and the need to relocate some government offices, the addition of two more storeys was deemed necessary.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that the project is expected to be completed within eight months, by August of this year. A total of 48 rooms will be built across both floors, with separate toilet facilities for men and women. The complex will also feature a new lift with a capacity of 13 people, as well as CCTV cameras for enhanced security.
CM Bhagwant Singh emphasized that the new building would be equipped with advanced fire detection, emergency evacuation systems, and a public address system. Additionally, a 95 KW solar power generation system will be installed to promote the use of renewable energy. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann criticized previous governments for neglecting such initiatives aimed at improving public services.
He acknowledged that the state had suffered under previous administrations, but assured that since his government took office, priority has been given to projects that directly benefit the public. CM Bhagwant Singh stated that these new buildings are being designed with an eye on the future needs of the people.
