CM Nayab Singh Saini accuses Arvind Kejriwal of shifting blame for his own failure.
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini stated that former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s claim about poisonous water is a political maneuver by the Aam Aadmi Party to influence voters ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections and divert attention from their own shortcomings. He also mentioned that the matter has been brought to the Election Commission’s notice. The Chief Minister emphasized that providing a consistent water supply to the national capital is a shared responsibility, and Haryana is fulfilling this duty diligently without any lapses.
Exposing the Delhi government’s failure, CM Nayab Singh Saini pointed out that in 2021, Delhi filed a petition, which was addressed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The CPCB’s response highlighted the issue of ammonia nitrogen in the Wazirabad pond and noted that a water treatment plant in Agra could handle water with ammonia levels up to 24 mg/l. However, the Delhi government has failed to upgrade the Wazirabad plant, leaving the people of Delhi to continue consuming contaminated water. Saini accused Arvind Kejriwal of blaming Haryana to distract from his own failures.
CM Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that the people of Haryana consider the Yamuna River sacred and a vital resource for both Haryana and Delhi. He condemned Kejriwal’s allegations, calling them an insult to Haryana’s faith and traditions. He added that Kejriwal’s accusations are not only unfounded but also disrespectful to Haryana’s cultural values.
CM Nayab Singh Saini clarified that Delhi receives 1049 cusecs of drinking water at Munak from the Yamuna and Ravi-Beas rivers through the Carrier Line Channel (CLC) and the Delhi Branch canal. Since 2014, Haryana has been supplying clean water exclusively through this canal system and not through drains or directly from the Yamuna. He assured that Haryana is committed to ensuring the continued purity and supply of water to Delhi.
CM Nayab Singh Saini also shared that between January 7 and 13, 2021, the CPCB tested water from Yamunanagar to Wazirabad and identified illegal discharges between Palla and Wazirabad as a primary cause of pollution. The accumulation of sediment in the Wazirabad pond was increasing ammonia nitrogen levels. Despite the CPCB’s report, the Delhi government has not taken any action to stop the illegal discharge or clean the pond.
CM Nayab Singh Saini urged citizens to conserve water and use it wisely, emphasizing its importance for both current and future generations.
