Minister Baljit Kaur : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of women and children across the state. In a significant move, the government has sanctioned 252 new positions to strengthen and enhance the functioning of helpline services for women and children. This announcement was made by Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Baljit Kaur
Providing further insights, Minister Baljit Kaur highlighted that the department operates the 181 Women Helpline and 1098 Child Helpline to offer immediate assistance. To improve their efficiency, a dedicated 24×7 control room has been set up in Sector-35, Chandigarh, linking district authorities with the 112 to ensure prompt and effective emergency response.
Minister Baljit Kaur emphasized that this initiative is a crucial step in enhancing the response mechanism for women and children in distress. The newly approved posts will facilitate better coordination, faster response times, and improved accessibility, ensuring the smooth operation of helpline services throughout Punjab.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to security,Minister Baljit Kaur mentioned that the Punjab Government is actively implementing measures to create a safer environment for women and children. As part of this effort, the Hifazat Project was recently introduced to strengthen security initiatives. The project is being executed through inter-departmental collaboration, with all necessary measures in place to ensure its effectiveness.
Minister Baljit Kaur further assured that there will be no compromise on the safety of women and children. She stated that all departments involved in the Hifazat Project will be provided with adequate resources to eliminate any security gaps.
