CM Mohan Yadav attended the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival, held under Vikramotsav-2025, at the Kalidas Academy campus in Ujjain on Tuesday. On this occasion, Dr. Yadav interacted with diplomats from various countries who were present at the festival. He also released the autobiography of writer Seema Kapoor titled “Yun Gujri Hai Ab Tak.”
CM Mohan Yadav said that Vikramotsav is gradually expanding with the addition of diverse and enriching dimensions. He highlighted that one of the remarkable features of Indian culture is its resilience—how people have remained steadfast even in the face of challenges and adversity, setting inspiring examples for the world. He noted that the film festival, with its focus on Indian culture, serves as a medium to showcase the country’s rich artistic and cultural heritage globally. The festival also featured screenings of timeless classics, tracing the journey of Hindi cinema beginning with Raja Harishchandra, the iconic film directed by Dadasaheb Phalke.
CM Mohan Yadav said that films rooted in Indian culture continue to hold relevance even today. He emphasised that such festivals should be organised on a larger scale in the future to promote cultural heritage. Through Vikramotsav, we are reminded of the golden era of Emperor Vikramaditya. Dramas and films based on his life convey his commitment to justice and exemplary governance to the world. The multifaceted personality of Emperor Vikramaditya encompasses many virtues and ideals. Ujjain, he noted, is truly a city that nurtures and imparts the 64 traditional arts. On the occasion of the film festival’s closing, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav extended his best wishes to the Culture Department, Kalidas Academy, and Vikramaditya Shodh Peeth.
Minister-in-charge ShriGautam Tetwal, MLA Shri Anil Jain Kaluhera, Shri Dilip Singh Parihar, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Smt Kalavati Yadav, Shri Om Jain, Director of Kalidas Sanskrit Academy Shri Govind Gandhe, Shri Naresh Sharma, Shri Rajesh Singh Kushwaha and other dignitaries were present at the closing ceremony.
Director of Vikramaditya Shodh Peeth, Shri Shriram Tiwari, welcomed all the guests and shared that, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, an international film festival was organised to share the richness of India’s knowledge and culture with the world. A total of 90 films were screened during the festival, with the majority focusing on the life and teachings of Lord Krishna.
During the programme, Smt Sunaina P.R. Mohan, Secretary of the Embassy of Suriname (South America), shared her thoughts, mentioning that this was her first visit to the city of Ujjain. She expressed appreciation for the simplicity and warmth reflected in the personalities of the people here. Smt Sunaina encouraged the youth of India to take pride in their city, state, and nation, and to say with confidence and honour, “We are Indians.”
Before the closing of the International Film Festival, films like Gopal Krishna (Hindi), Bhagwan Shri Krishna (Hindi), Shri Krishna Arjun Yuddham (Telugu), Meera Ro Girdha (Rajasthani), Bhagwan Shri Krishna Chaitanya (Bengali), Shri Krishna Leela (Tamil), Bhagtansayo (Gujarati) were screened. Apart from this, films like Death in Varicucos and Sacha: A Child from Chernobyl-1 were screened in foreign languages, which were enjoyed by the art-loving audience.
