Punjab Police Clarifies: Bikram Majithia’s Security Reduced, Not Withdrawn
The Punjab Police on Wednesday dismissed reports suggesting the complete withdrawal of security for Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, stating that his security cover had only been reduced following a reassessment of threat perception.
An official spokesperson explained that the adjustment was made based on the latest recommendations of the Security Review Committee.
“Security arrangements for any prominent individual are periodically reviewed based on threat assessments, leading to either an increase or reduction in security measures,” the spokesperson stated. He further assured that Majithia continues to receive adequate protection, including an escort vehicle and a sufficient number of gunmen, in accordance with protocol.
Officials emphasized that such decisions are routine and determined strictly by threat perception reports.
