To enhance the efficiency and transparency of service delivery across Punjab, Good Governance and Information Technology Minister Mr. Aman Arora has instructed officials to ensure the onboarding of all Sarpanches, Nambardars, and Municipal Councillors (MCs) by the end of April 2025.
During a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSeGS), Mr. Arora announced that a total of 43,321 local representatives will be onboarded. This initiative will enable them to verify applications and certificates digitally, removing the need for citizens to visit them in person.
Additional Chief Secretary of Good Governance and IT, Mr. Vikas Pratap, informed the minister that login credentials have already been created for over 41,000 local representatives, covering nearly 95% of the total. He assured that the full onboarding would be completed within the set timeline.
Highlighting efforts to make public services more accessible, Mr. Arora shared that the state government has reduced the doorstep delivery fee from ₹120 to ₹50. Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, this step allows citizens to access 406 government services by simply calling helpline number 1076, promoting inclusivity and ease of access for all income groups.
Reiterating the government’s focus on improving the quality of life and ensuring efficient service delivery, Mr. Arora noted that the Punjab State e-Governance Society is implementing various IT-driven reforms to foster better governance and transparency.
The board also reviewed the progress of key digital initiatives including eSewa, the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS), RTI Portal, mSewa, the State Admission Portal, Connect portal, and the Visitor Pass Management System.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Health & Family Welfare Mr. Ghanshyam Thori, Director Good Governance Mr. Girish Dayalan, CEO of PMIDC Ms. Deepti Uppal, State Transport Commissioner Mr. Jaspreet Singh, along with other senior officials.
