Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi at his official residence today. In this meeting, a joint review of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Mukt Bijli Yojana, PM Kusum Yojana and wheat procurement under Rabi Marketing Year 2025-26 was taken.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh is performing well in the areas of solar energy and wheat procurement. He also assured that the State Government would leave no stone unturned to meet the targets of these schemes. The Union Minister also lauded the works of Uttar Pradesh and said that the energy policy of the state government is becoming a model for the entire country.
It was informed in the meeting that various schemes have been implemented to promote renewable energy in the state such as Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy-2022, Bio Energy Policy-2022 and Green Hydrogen Policy-2024. The state has set a target of 22,000 MW solar power generation by the year 2027 and for this solar parks, solarization of agricultural feeders, installation of solar plants along expressways and railway tracks are being promoted.
Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, more than 10 lakh applications have been received so far, out of which more than one lakh installations have been completed. CM Yogi Adityanath directed UPNEDA to connect all applicants with solar energy at the earliest and the number of vendors should also be increased as per the requirement.
Under the PM Kusum Yojana, Uttar Pradesh is leading the country in private pump solarization. CM Yogi Adityanath directed that this scheme should be taken forward in mission mode and farmers should also be made aware of water conservation.
At the same time, CM Yogi Adityanath appreciated the progress of the wheat procurement campaign under the Rabi Marketing Year 2025-26. As on 9th April, 1.40 LMT wheat has been procured in the State, which is better than last time. Farmers are being brought to the procurement centers by informing them about the minimum support price and also going to the villages through mobile purchase centers.
Agriculture Minister, Power Minister, Urban Development Minister and other senior officials were also present on the occasion. Lauding the schemes of the Uttar Pradesh government, the Union Minister said that the performance of the state in solar energy and energy sector is an example for the country.
