Minister Laljit Singh : In a major step toward digitizing operations, the Punjab Transport Department has officially launched an online attendance system for its employees starting today. All staff members are now required to log their attendance digitally twice a day.
Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar stated that the department has moved away from the traditional manual attendance system maintained in registers. He mentioned that comprehensive training has been provided to all categories of staff—regular, outsourced, contractual, and lab attendants—working in the Transport Department and SDM offices to ensure a smooth shift to the new digital system.
Minister Laljit Singh said that employees are now marking their attendance via the M-Seva App, and this process has already begun in various regional and departmental offices.
Minister Laljit Singh added that M-Seva login credentials and detailed instructions have been shared with all staff to facilitate the implementation.
To ensure transparency, the new system uses geo-fencing and tracks latitude and longitude, meaning employees must be physically present at the workplace to mark their attendance—it cannot be done remotely. In cases where work requires staff to be outside the office, location verification through a mobile device is mandatory.
According to Minister Laljit Singh, this digital initiative will not only boost the department’s efficiency but also allow for quicker and more effective resolution of public grievances.
