Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini announced that the Global City project in Gurugram will be developed to international standards and will stand as a key landmark in the state’s progress.
CM Nayab made this statement while presiding over an investors’ meeting at the Global City site in Gurugram on Friday. The gathering was also attended by Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, along with MLAs Bimla Chaudhary, Tejpal Tanwar, and Mukesh Sharma.
Project to Create Over 5 Lakh Jobs
Highlighting the project’s scale, CM Nayab said it is expected to attract investments exceeding ₹1 lakh crore and benefit around 16 lakh people. Once completed, the project is projected to create about five lakh jobs. Spanning 1,000 acres, the city will feature mixed-use development zones for residential, commercial, hospitality, and educational purposes. He added that Phase I of the project, covering 587 acres at a cost of ₹940 crore, will be completed by the end of next year.
World-Class Infrastructure
To ensure a sustainable water supply, a Mass Balancing Reservoir with a 350-million-litre capacity will be built over 18 acres, serving both functional and visual purposes. It will provide a seven-day water backup for the city. Additionally, the city will feature a 10.7 km-long utility tunnel housing systems for water, electricity, fire safety, lighting, ventilation, and more.
Focus on Green Development
Environmental sustainability is a core focus of the project, with a proposed 125-acre green zone aimed at keeping the city’s temperature lower than that of Gurugram. The Chief Minister also emphasized excellent connectivity, noting that Global City will be just 30 minutes from Delhi International Airport, 20 minutes from the railway station and ICD, and 10 minutes from both a heliport and the Multimodal Transit Hub. It will also be seamlessly linked to NH-48 via the NPR, SPR, and CPR corridors.
Strong Investor Interest
During the meeting, CM Nayab engaged with representatives from 14 major private sector companies, including Lodha (Macrotech), DLF, Adani, RMZ, L&T Realty, Signature Global, Eldeco, Hero Realty, Unity Group, Bestech, Prestige Construction, JLL, CBRE, and ASF. These stakeholders showed strong interest in the project and shared insightful suggestions. The Chief Minister directed officials to take necessary action based on the feedback received.
Principal Secretary of the Industry and Commerce Department, D. Suresh, and Chief Coordinator Sunil Sharma presented an overview of the project’s key features and objectives.
Following the meeting, CM Nayab addressed the media and visited the project site with senior officials. Demonstrating a commitment to environmental preservation, the Chief Minister and dignitaries also planted saplings at the location.
The event was attended by Principal Advisor D.S. Dhesi, HSIIDC Managing Director Sushil Sarwan, and other senior officials.
