CM Mohan Yadav said that Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar undertook several remarkable works in the 20th century, which helped eliminate the distortions caused by a thousand years of slavery. Based on his vision and contribution, India has emerged as the world’s largest democratic nation.
Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions were multidimensional. He foresaw the future challenges of India. Despite facing immense hardships in life, he learned from his struggles and dedicated himself to uplifting others like him. Baba Saheb left no stone unturned in his pursuit of education. His life inspires us to ensure that there is never a lack of education in one’s life. His efforts for social harmony and upliftment are truly unparalleled in history. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the program organized at Bhim Janmabhoomi (Mhow), Dr. Ambedkar Nagar, on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav garlanded the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and also presented the Bhim Ratna Awards.
CM Mohan Yadav said that Baba Saheb provided the entire society with the system of reservations. Today, all sections, including Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, are benefiting from increased literacy. The literacy rate among Scheduled Castes, which was once just 1.5%, has now risen to 59%. In the future, during times of adversity, the empowerment of the underprivileged will remain a priority.
Dr. Ambedkar created a strong Constitution to empower society and gave India the gift of democracy. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also mentioned that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has recognized all places associated with Dr. Ambedkar as Panchteerth (five sacred sites). The contributions of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Ministers, Late Shri Sundarlal Patwa and Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, have been significant in developing Bhim Janmabhoomi in Mhow as a pilgrimage site.
He further announced that the state government is allotting 3.5 acres of land in Mhow for the construction of a Dharamshala (rest house) for visitors to The state government will ensure all necessary facilities for the devotees.
The Dr. Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana has been launched for the prosperity of the underprivileged and farmers. If any person from the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe category opens a dairy, the government will provide a 30% subsidy.
Just a day earlier, the Central Government gifted Mhow a new train, directly connecting it to the national capital, Delhi. This train service will benefit not only Mhow but also cities like Kota, Indore, Ujjain, and Dewas in the Malwa region.
CM Mohan Yadav also highlighted that a grand memorial of Dr. Ambedkar has been established in London, at the very place where he pursued his education. Although the site is in a residential area and faced strong opposition from the British for being declared a memorial, it was made possible due to the efforts of Prime Minister Shri Modi.
The Chief Minister also praised Shri Modi for the abrogation of Article 370, restoring full constitutional rights to Jammu and Kashmir, and recalled that Dr. Ambedkar himself had never accepted Article 370.
Thinker Shri Mukul Kanitkar stated that on this day in 1891, a positive revolution began from Mhow with the birth of a rising sun of change. In 1916, at just 27 years of age, Dr. Ambedkar earned a degree in Economics from Columbia University, USA. In Columbia, the only statue installed is that of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
He completed his Ph.D. in Economics and Master’s degrees in Sociology and Anthropology, making him the most academically accomplished individual in the world at that time. Dr. Ambedkar was not just a leader of one community or religion—he was a leader for the entire society. Through self-education, he educated society and infused it with positive energy by moving it away from orthodoxy. His ideas are essential for every individual to study and reflect upon.
On this occasion, CM Mohan Yadav and other dignitaries on stage released the book titled “Constitutional Social Justice and Reflections” Union Minister Smt. Savitri Thakur, MP Smt. Kavita Patidar, former minister and MLA Sushri Usha Thakur, along with senior officials, were present at the event.
