Who Created The Glass Dome?
The series is written by acclaimed Swedish author Camilla Läckberg, best known for her Fjällbacka crime novels. Unlike her previous works, The Glass Dome is an original concept developed specifically for television. It is co-directed by Lisa Farzaneh (Young Royals) and Henrik Björn (Jordskott), both prominent figures in Nordic drama.
What Is The Glass Dome About?
The Glass Domecenters on criminologist Lejla Ness who returns to her small hometown of Granås after her adoptive mother’s death. Her homecoming takes a dark turn when Alicia, the daughter of a childhood friend, goes missing. The incident reopens old wounds — Lejla was abducted as a child, and the unresolved trauma resurfaces as she’s drawn deeper into the case.
As the series unfolds, Lejla finds herself increasingly entangled in the hunt for Alicia, not just as an expert in criminology but as someone with deeply personal stakes. Her investigation leads her to confront her own past — and forces her to question everything she thought she knew about her childhood abduction.
Vincent is joined by a strong supporting cast, including Johan Hedenberg (The Sandhamn Murders) as Valter Ness, Lejla’s adoptive father and a retired police commissioner; Johan Rheborg (Carmen Curlers) as Tomas, Valter’s brother and a local officer; and Minoo Andacheh as Alicia, the missing girl whose case mirrors Lejla’s own. Rounding out the ensemble are Gina-Lee Fahlén Ronander (Sthlm Requiem) as Louise, Alicia’s mother; Farzad Farzaneh as Said, Alicia’s father; and Ia Langhammer (Det som göms i snö) as Jorun, the sheriff’s deputy.
Is It Based on a Book or a True Story?
No. Despite Camilla Läckberg’s history as a novelist, The Glass Dome is not adapted from a book. It is also not based on real events. The story is entirely fictional, though it draws on the emotional realities of trauma and recovery.
Where Is It Set?
The series is set in the fictional town of Granås, located in Sweden’s Dalarna region, and makes atmospheric use of the rural landscape to heighten the show’s mood of isolation and unease. Flashbacks to a younger Lejla, played by Seraphine Krystek (Deliver Me), add emotional depth and gradually peel back layers of her suppressed memories.
While The Glass Dome is a work of fiction, it draws heavily on the emotional realities of trauma survivors and explores how communities respond to crisis and secrecy. It’s a haunting, slow-burn mystery that doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable truths, making it a standout in the current wave of Nordic noir.
The Glass Dome is available to stream now. You can find the trailer at the top of the series page.
