Minister Harbhajan Singh : Chairing a high-level meeting with PSPCL CMD Ajoy Sinha, along with the corporation’s Directors and Chief Engineers, the Minister emphasized that all necessary arrangements have been made to provide uninterrupted power to consumers. He noted that around 17,000 MW of electricity will be required during the paddy season, and PSPCL has made advance preparations to meet this demand. In addition to agricultural needs, consistent power supply will also be maintained for domestic users throughout the state, he added.
Minister Harbhajan Singh highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab has ensured uninterrupted electricity for consumers over the past three years. He assured that the same reliability would continue during the upcoming season, especially benefiting consumers during peak summer months.
Minister Harbhajan Singh also instructed PSPCL officials to conduct a detailed assessment of the Bathinda Thermal Plant and Guru Amardas Thermal Plant (formerly GVK Thermal Plant). He further directed them to explore the feasibility of establishing solar power plants on unused land owned by the corporation. Stressing the importance of infrastructure readiness, he called for immediate steps to eliminate overloaded transformers across the state to avoid supply disruptions.
Looking ahead, the Minister urged officers to initiate long-term planning to meet the state’s power needs for the next decade. He also instructed the preparation of a comprehensive policy regarding the transfer of PSPCL employees to ensure better workforce management.
