Chhattisgarh NEWS : Under the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, the picture has changed in Gabod, a village in Pithora development block of Mahasamund district. It is noteworthy that village Gabod is famous by the name of ‘Green Village’ for greenery and cleanliness. Due to the successful work done under the Har Ghar Nal Har Ghar Jal scheme through the Jal Jeevan Mission, Gabod is now creating a new identity with another major achievement.
This village has now been declared as “Har Ghar Jal Gram.” Gabod village got this title on 14th January 2025 when every household here was ensured the availability of pure drinking water under the ambitious scheme of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The discipline and patriotism of the villagers are also commendable here. Every morning at 7: 30 every citizen of the village comes out of his house and participates in the national anthem.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, tap connections were provided to 138 households in the village at a cost of Rs. 89.39 lakh with a high-level reservoir of 40 kilolitres and 760 metres of pipeline. Under this scheme, pure water is now reaching every household in the village. Earlier, women and children had to fetch water from 5 hand pumps and a few wells in the village. During the rainy season, many problems were faced in fetching water, and sometimes there were disputes. Now this problem is completely solved.
Women have improved their health by getting clean water and are now participating in economic activities by saving time. Children have started getting time to study and pregnant women have also got special benefits, which has reduced problems like abortion. The people of the village are now participating in activities like water conservation and plantation. This example of Green Village is becoming an inspiration for other villages.
Expressing her happiness, Mrs. Pooja Singh Thakur, a woman of the village, said, “Now the problem of water is not the same as it used to be. We are thankful to the government. “All the citizens of Gabod village have thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for this achievement.
