MP NEWS : Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan has evolved into a statewide people’s campaign. The core concept of the initiative is ‘Water Conservation and Augmentation through Public Participation.’ The campaign includes both the construction of new water harvesting structures and the renovation of existing ones, along with cleaning of water sources and distribution systems, and plantation activities around water bodies. To ensure community involvement, various awareness programs are being conducted across the state.
Cleanliness Drive at Unnav Balaji Dham, Datia
In the Datia district, a cleanliness drive was carried out at the Unnav Balaji Dham river, where senior social workers, public representatives, and citizens took part. Participants cleaned the river and took a pledge to preserve water sources. They urged everyone to clean ancient water bodies in their own villages and to raise awareness about water conservation.
Kalash Yatra in Pipliya Mandi, Mandsaur
In Mandsaur’s Pipliya Mandi (Ayodhya Basti), the Jan Abhiyan Parishad organised a Kalash Yatra to spread the message of water conservation. Alongside the yatra, a shramdaan (Voluntary Labour) activity was held at the local pond. The event saw participation from divisional and block coordinators, social workers, and students.
Youth Raise Awareness through Songs in Umaria
In the Umaria district, an enthusiastic team of youth held a musical awareness campaign under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan. Sitting at the Harihar Baba Ghat of the historic Sagra Talab in Pali Nagar, they sang songs dedicated to water conservation, inspiring citizens to save water.
Wedding Invitations Carry a Message of Water Conservation
In a novel initiative from Village Bachha (Manpur Block, Umaria), former Sarpanch Shri Kamla Prasad Jaiswal included a water conservation message in his daughter Sudha Jaiswal’s wedding invitation. The message read: “Water is Life. People can survive without love, but not without water.” This creative gesture has been warmly welcomed and seen as a meaningful step towards raising awareness.
Public Choupal in Shahdol to Highlight the Importance of Every Drop
In Shahdol’s Padmaniya Khurd Janpad Panchayat, a public choupal (community meeting) was held in the presence of Collector Dr. Kedar Singh, elected representatives, and officials. The focus was on the value of every drop of water. Dr. Singh emphasised that “Water is priceless and vital to life. It is a shared responsibility, not just an individual’s, to conserve water for future generations.”
Pond Deepening in Dewas to Harvest Rainwater
In Dewas district, the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan is actively being implemented. With community support, pond deepening work is underway in Village Kothdi (Kannod Janpad Panchayat) to store rainwater. This will help raise groundwater levels and provide water for drinking and farming during the monsoon.
