Actor Ajith Kumar Heads to Delhi for the Ceremony with Family

Ajith Kumar, one of Tamil cinema’s most beloved and accomplished actors, is set to receive the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honours, today, April 28, 2025. This marks a significant achievement in the actor’s illustrious career, which spans decades of extraordinary performances on the silver screen. Ajith is set to be honoured by President Droupadi Murmu at a grand ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.

Ajith Kumar had been announced as a recipient of the Padma Bhushan in January 2025. However, it is today that he will personally receive the prestigious award. Accompanied by his wife, Shalini, and their children, the actor traveled to the national capital for the event, marking another milestone in his life.

The actor had earlier expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the honour on social media. “I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the esteemed Padma Award by the President of India,” Ajith wrote on X (formerly Twitter). He further thanked President Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the recognition, acknowledging the collective efforts of his colleagues, family, and supporters.

Ajith Kumar also highlighted that the award wasn’t just a personal achievement but a reflection of the work done by many others who have supported him throughout his journey. He expressed special thanks to the film industry, particularly to his seniors and peers, whose inspiration and collaboration have been crucial. Additionally, he extended gratitude to the motor racing and shooting communities, which have been integral to his career.

In his emotional message, Ajith Kumar paid tribute to his late father, sharing how his family’s love and support have been a source of strength. “I wish my late father had lived to see this day. Yet, I like to think he would be proud that his spirit and legacy live on in all that I do,” he said.

This milestone comes just ahead of another celebration for Ajith Kumar, as he also prepares to mark his birthday on May 1st. With both personal and professional milestones approaching, Ajith’s week is shaping up to be a double celebration.
