CM Mohan Yadav emphasised that all road construction projects in the state must adhere to the highest quality standards while keeping long-term requirements in mind. He stated that roads are the backbone of the state’s economic and social development, and their construction should be durable, safe, and in line with modern standards.
CM Mohan Yadav instructed officials to ensure transparency and technical efficiency in construction activities. He also directed that all road projects must be completed within their stipulated timeframes so that citizens can benefit from improved transportation facilities as early as possible.
The meeting included a review of the progress of key road projects across the state and an in-depth discussion on upcoming plans. CM Mohan Yadav called for the adoption of modern technologies in road construction and compliance with environmental norms to maintain ecological balance.
Present at the meeting were Public Works Minister and Vice Chairman of MPRDC Shri Rakesh Singh, Chief Secretary and Vice Chairman of MPRDC Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Rajesh Rajora, Additional Chief Secretary (Forests) Shri Ashok Barnwal, Additional Chief Secretary (Public Works) Shri Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development and Housing) Shri Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Principal Secretary Shri Manish Rastogi, Principal Secretary (Mineral Resources) Shri Umakant Umrao, Managing Director of MPRDC Shri Bharat Yadav, Independent Director of the Corporation and Special Member of the Board Shri Venkatesh Balasubramaniam, along with other officials.
In the meeting, Managing Director Shri Bharat Yadav informed that during the financial year 2024–25, MPRDC constructed 1,127 kilometres of roads at a total cost of ₹1,586 crore. In the same period, ₹2,761.47 crore was spent on capital road development works, and ₹280.79 crore on maintenance and repair, amounting to a total expenditure of ₹3,042.29 crore.
For the current financial year, the target is to construct 1,425 kilometres of roads, with an estimated expenditure of ₹3,134 crore. He added that tenders have been invited for reconstruction, maintenance, bituminous renewal, strengthening, regular contracts, and toll collection on identified routes.
Following the Tender Committee’s approval, contracts worth ₹3,443.72 crore for 35 types of road construction works have been sanctioned, and work orders have been issued to the lowest bidders.
He also shared that a new alignment is being proposed for National Highway No. 46 (Bhopal–Jabalpur), which will reduce the distance between Bhopal and Jabalpur.
