The BCCI has officially announced that the IPL 2025 season has been paused for one week due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. However, the board has yet to provide details on how the tournament’s schedule will be adjusted or what steps it might take if the situation persists.
In a series of updates, the BCCI stated, “The remainder of the ongoing #TATAIPL 2025 has been suspended with immediate effect for one week.”
The suspension decision was made after discussions with key stakeholders, including IPL teams and broadcasters.
“The IPL Governing Council reached this decision after thorough consultation with all major stakeholders, following concerns raised by several franchises representing the views of their players, as well as inputs from broadcasters, sponsors, and fans. While the BCCI has full confidence in the capability and preparedness of our armed forces, it felt that this move was necessary to safeguard the collective interests of everyone involved,” the board said.
The Indian cricket board also expressed strong support for the Indian armed forces, stating, “At this crucial time, the BCCI stands united with the nation. We extend our solidarity to the Government of India, our Armed Forces, and the people of the country. The Board honors the valor, dedication, and selfless service of our military personnel, whose heroic actions under Operation Sindoor continue to safeguard and inspire the nation, as they respond firmly to the recent terrorist attack and Pakistan’s unprovoked military aggression.”
This message of solidarity from the BCCI came shortly after similar expressions of support from top Indian cricketers, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav.
PSL Relocated to Dubai:
In related developments, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced that the remainder of the PSL will no longer be held in Pakistan and will instead be played in Dubai. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, following a familiar narrative, blamed India for the shift, claiming that an Indian drone strike had damaged the Rawalpindi stadium during yesterday’s incident.
