Diljit’s equation with his parents
In a recent podcast, Diljit disclosed that, when he was eleven years old, his parents sent him away to live with a relative in Ludhiana, a move that caused him to feel estranged from his family.
Diljit stated, “I was eleven years old when I left my home and started living with my mamaji (maternal uncle),” in an interview with Ranveer Allahabadia. I left my town behind and traveled to the metropolis. I moved over to Ludhiana. My parents responded, “Yes, take him,” when he asked, “Send him to the city with me.” My folks didn’t even enquire.I used to live by myself in a compact room. There used to be no TV; I would just go to school and return home. I was spoiled with time. In addition, since we didn’t have cell phones in those days, it was expensive for us to call my parents or send a message back home. I so began to distance myself from my family.
