Governor Haribhau Bagde said that good education system is what makes a country strong and character. A country whose education system deteriorates, that country becomes characteristically weak.
Governor Haribhau Bagde said this while presiding over the 3rd Convocation of Bikaner Technical University on Monday.
The Governor said that our country has been extremely prosperous in the field of technology from the very beginning. The artists embodying the art skills of the Ranakpur temple were masters in their art. The Gorakhpur temple in the south and the caves of Ajanta Ellora also reflect our technological richness. The Governor said that it is the job of engineering colleges and technical universities to produce good technical experts. The technical university of Bikaner understood this and provided good technical experts to the country.
Governor Haribhau Bagde expressed concern over the increasing trend of drug addiction and said that the youth are the worst sufferers. This is affecting the physical and mental strength of the youth. He described education as the core of any country’s progress and said that for a thousand years, foreign invaders tried to influence the country’s education system.
The Governor said that at one time there were six universities in the world. Two of these universities, Takshashila and Vikramshila, were in India. Students from all over the country come here to study. Gradually, it started declining. Today, they need to be reinvigorated. The Governor said that the students of the Technical University should move forward with a positive attitude towards the country and become character-driven.
Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Vasudev Devnani said that there has been continuous development of technical education in the state. Today Rajasthan is among the leading states in the field of technical education across the country. He said that the Convocation programme is not just a programme to get a degree, it is a programme to make us realise our responsibilities. Don’t make lakhs of rupees package your goal by getting an engineer’s degree but fulfil your responsibility towards the society and the country. “How can an engineer raise the standard of living of a large section of the country’s poor? It is important to use your technical knowledge for this.
The Speaker said that during Operation Sindoor, India’s defence system destroyed the intentions of the enemy country. It was a great example of our technical knowledge. He said that in today’s era, we have systems like Start-Up and Make in India, it is important to understand them and become a job giver, not a job seeker.
Describing the four ashrams and four purusharthas, the Speaker said, “Our country is a country with education centres like Taxila, Nalanda and Vikramshila and guru tradition like Ashvaghosh and Chanakya. We need to take it forward. Shri Devnani said that it is necessary for us to rise above the polluted education and take forward the spirit of Indianness. So that we can make India a developed India by 2047.
Union Minister for Law and Justice Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal said that from the invention of STEAM to the discovery of Artificial Intelligence, there has been a paradigm shift in technology. In India too, the results have been positive. “No country can progress without technology. If the character and moral force of the residents of any country is strong, then no one will be able to stop the country from moving forward. Shri Meghwal said that character is related to education, culture, knowledge, conduct and behaviour. He explained this through the quotes of Swami Vivekananda.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa said that technical education paves the way for the progress of not only the individual but the entire society and the country. In view of this, maximum facilities are being provided in the engineering colleges of the state. RITs are being set up on the lines of IITs. He said that students should get degrees for excellence. Innovate by getting a degree and make more and more youth the partners of these innovations.
The Deputy Chief Minister called upon the youth to become job givers and said that futuristic courses like artificial intelligence have also been introduced in the state. He said that the society has great expectations from the students who get degrees. The students from the university came out true to this. He said that today’s era is the era of technology. There are unprecedented opportunities and challenges. It is our foremost responsibility to build a strong India by tackling these challenges.
At the convocation, the Governor gave away gold medals to 27 meritorious students. As many as 4,80 students were awarded degrees on the occasion.
Prof. Akhil Ranjan Garg, Vice Chancellor, Bikaner Technical University delivered the welcome address and presented the progress report of the University.
