Premiering in August 2023, One Piece Season 2 became a breakout hit on Netflix U.S., and now Season 2 is gearing up for another wave of adventure. During the streamer’s recent Tudum global fan event, American audiences were among the first to catch a teaser featuring Chopper—an adorable yet surprisingly tough reindeer-human hybrid—who dramatically introduces himself as the ship’s doctor after tumbling down a staircase.
According to Netflix, Chopper is “fiercely loyal, loves compliments (but doesn’t want you to know it), and wears his heart on his sleeve. But don’t let his sweet face fool you—he’s a lot tougher than he looks. And whatever you do, don’t call him a raccoon. He’s a reindeer!”
Voiced by Beef and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 actress Mikaela Hoover, who also provided facial capture for the role, Chopper is set to charm global audiences. “What excited me about playing Chopper is the tug of war between his standoffishness and his huge heart,” Hoover shared with Tudum. “He tries so hard to hide his emotions and put on a tough exterior, but underneath, he’s a big softy, and his love can’t help but come out.”
The U.S. fanbase has played a huge part in the global success of One Piece, with Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 promising an even more immersive dive into the manga’s iconic arcs. Returning cast members include Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Gibson (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji).
