Due to adverse geographical conditions, the problem of water scarcity persists in many areas of Rajasthan. With the rapid depletion of groundwater levels, climate change has compounded the problem. To overcome this water shortage, water conservation is very important, for which CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has taken an important initiative of Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan – Jan Abhiyan across the state. Under this campaign, which is going to be launched on the auspicious occasion of World Environment Day and Ganga Dussehra (June 5), comprehensive works of water conservation have been proposed by various departments across the state till June 20. Through these works, the public will be made aware of the importance of water conservation, so that this campaign can become a mass movement. Ministers have been deployed in 41 districts of the state for the successful conduct of this campaign.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma to observe World Environment Day
On the first day of the campaign on June 5, various departments across the state will conduct special cleanliness programs in nurseries, Tulsi sapling distribution, pledge to reduce the use of plastic, Shramdaan, cleaning and repair of water sources, Vande Ganga Kalash Yatra, puja of river-dam-sarovar and preparation of plantation under Hariyalo Rajasthan as well as observation and approval of works under the Karmabhoomi to Mathrubhumi campaign.
On the auspicious occasion of World Environment Day and Ganga Dussehra, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma will plant tree saplings at Jamwaramgarh in Jaipur. At the same time, Shramdaan will be done at Ramgarh Dam near Mori. Later, the Chief Minister will address a state-level workshop to be held at Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) on the occasion of World Environment Day.
After this, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma will leave for Bundi, where he will attend the Chief Minister’s’ Vande Ganga ‘Jal Pujan, Chunari Mahotsav and Kalash Pujan program in Keshoraypatan and dedicate and lay the foundation stone of various development works of Bundi district under Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan 2.1. He will also offer prayers at the Keshav Rai temple here. Shri Sharma will reach Bharatpur in the evening where he will perform special puja at Ganga Mandir and also perform Deepdan at Sujanganga.
Vande Ganga water service will be held on Nirjala Ekadashi.
On the day of Nirjala Ekadashi (June 6), various activities will be organised at public places like railway station, bus stand, etc. regarding Vande Ganga water service, water testing campaign, desilting of water conservation structures and provision of clean drinking water for animals and birds. Seminars on the campaign will be held on June 7 and on June 8, Vande Ganga Prabhat Pheri and awareness campaign rallies will be organised at the panchayat level in rural areas and at the ward level in urban areas.
Amrit Sarovar will be inaugurated on 9th June.
Under the able leadership of the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Central Government is completing 11 years on 9th June. On this day, on 9th June, under the Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan – Jan Abhiyan, the State Government will launch the Navin Amrit Sarovar. At the same time, the work of starting new water harvesting and water conservation structures, mapping and cleaning of all water sources in the villages and cleaning of main roads, intersections and public places in the villages will also be done.
New projects to be launched under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Pariyojana 2.0
Under the campaign, a review of the completed works under Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan 2.1, sanctioning and launching of works under Mukhyamantri Jan Swavlamban Abhiyan 2.2 and launching of new projects under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Pariyojana 2.0 will be held between June 10 and 15. Similarly, 575 water conservation structures will be inspected and various works under MGNREGA will be taken up. Also, Kisan Chaupal, cleaning of Diggis, lighting of lamps at water sources, disposal of plastic waste at identified sites and issuance of work orders under AMRUT 2.0 are proposed to be carried out during these days.
Dedication of various works under Mathrubhumi Abhiyan from Karmabhoomi –
Programmes of Water Consumers Groups, Catch the Rain programme and cleaning of drinking water sources like Ground Level Reservoirs and Over Head Reservoirs will be carried out during this period. Activities like public awareness campaign for saving water, dedication and approval of various works under the Karmabhoomi to Mathrubhumi campaign, essay writing and street plays on awareness of environmental protection along with water use audit will also be organised.
Discussion on water conservation will be held in the evening.
Under the campaign from June 16 to 19, discussions will be held on water harvesting and conservation by conducting night chaupals at selected gramme panchayat headquarters under Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan 2.0 along with identification of pastures and preparation for plantation of saplings, cleanliness drive at village organisation and CLF offices of Rajivika. Also, sprinklers, drips, farm ponds, sanction of pipelines, cleanliness programme by women of self-help groups under AMRUT 2.0 and advance preparation of plantation under Urban Employment Scheme will be taken up. On the conclusion of the campaign on 20th June, various programmes have been proposed including felicitation of Bhamashahs and institutions who have contributed to the implementation of Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan – Jan Abhiyan.
