HARYANA NEWS : The Minister for Water Resources, Shri Suresh Singh Rawat on Friday held a review meeting on the works of Water Resources Department, Indira Gandhi Canal Department and the ambitious Revised PKC Link Project. He gave necessary directions on the progress of water projects and budget announcements by conducting an in-depth review for 5 hours.
Shri Rawat directed to speed up the implementation of the water projects announced in the budget and ensure that the works are completed in the stipulated time frame with full quality. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, the work of water resources is gaining momentum. In line with the Chief Minister’s intention, developing strong infrastructure for water conservation and sustainable water supply is the top priority of the department. Therefore, the departmental engineers should expedite the works by keeping effective monitoring at every level.
The Water Resources Minister expressed displeasure over the pending works in the Budget Announcements of 2024-25 and 2025-26. He directed the officials to issue notices to the erring officials. He said that the very important Yamuna Water Project is a historic step towards water availability in the Shekhawati region. This will lead to a permanent solution for adequate water supply for drinking and irrigation in the area. He directed to expedite the process of formation of Water Consumers Associations.
Shri Rawat took a detailed review of Diggi Construction, Pipeline and Solar Plant works in Dholpur Lift Irrigation and Drinking Water Project, Parwan Vrihad Project, Isarda Drinking Water Project, Kalitir Lift Project, Upper High Level Canal, Pipalkhunt High Level Canal Project, Dam construction works on river Sei and Sabarmati. He also reviewed various works including construction of reservoirs in Dewas III and IV Project, Indira Gandhi Canal Project, Rajasthan Watershed Restructuring Project in Desert Area, Rajasthan Watershed Livelihood Improvement Project, Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project.
A special discussion was held on the status of construction work in the revised Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal link project. The Water Resources Minister said that this project is going to change the water resources scenario of the State. Negligence in this regard will not be tolerated at any level. During the meeting, the officials were apprised of the progress of the project.
In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources, Mr. Abhay Kumar gave directions to the engineers to speed up the works. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suram Chand Sharma; Chief Planning Officer Sukhleen Kour; Assistant Commissioner Development Sidharath Dhiman; Assistant Commissioner (Panchayat) Ashwani Kumar, besides Additional Superintendent of Police and other district officers attended the meeting.
Before the meeting, Minister Rawat served sorbet to the general public and employees on Nirjala Ekadashi in the premises.
