Maratha Royals Clinch T20 Mumbai League Title with Thrilling Win Over SoBo Mumbai Falcons
Despite finishing strong with the bat and pushing the match into the final over, SoBo Mumbai Falcons had to settle for the runners-up trophy, as MSC Maratha Royals claimed the T20 Mumbai League 2025 title with a six-wicket win and four balls to spare at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
Batting first after being put in, the Falcons recovered from a slow start, thanks to a superb unbeaten 85-run partnership off 49 balls between Mayuresh Tandel (50)* and *Harsh Aghav (45)**, posting a competitive 157/4 in 20 overs. Aghav, who was later named the Emerging Player of the Tournament, along with Tandel, added a crucial 53 runs in the last five overs to boost the total.
Earlier, the Falcons were 60 for 3 at the halfway mark, with skipper Shreyas Iyer falling to a reverse sweep in the 12th over, caught by Irfan.
In reply, the Maratha Royals’ chase was steady. The spin attack from the Falcons kept things tight, but a vital 67-run stand between Chinmay Sutar (53) and Awais Khan (38) set up the chase. Although left-arm spinner Kartik Mishra broke the partnership in the penultimate over, the Royals needed just 7 runs off the last 6 balls, and veteran Rohan Raje calmly saw them home.
