RAJASTHAN NEWS : Shri Hemant Meena, Minister for Revenue and Colonialism said that Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan will prove to be a boon for drinking water, irrigation and greenery in Rajasthan. This is a campaign to change the picture of the state. It has to reach every revenue village in wards, mohallas and villages in cities. Every effort should be made to connect people. Awareness should be created at every level. Revenue Minister Shri Hemant Meena reviewed the Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan in Ajmer on Monday.
Minister Meena directed the officials of the education department to increase awareness activities for water conservation and environmental consciousness among the students. He also directed the Public Works Department to plant more trees along the roads. He directed the urban bodies to increase the organisation of Shramdaan, workshops and public awareness programs under the campaign. Minister Meena clarified that it is the responsibility of all the departments to take the objectives of the state government like public awareness, water conservation and environmental protection to the people by organising more and more activities.
He said that it is the responsibility of every officer to connect the people by implementing schemes for water conservation and environmental protection. It is very important to increase the water level, especially in areas with dark zones. He spoke about the need to select plant species as per local environmental suitability under the Harialo Rajasthan campaign.
He apprised the departments about the progress of works taken up under the programme. In this, information was given about the wall painting on Lav-Kush Vatika by the urban body, cleaning on water sources and other works, cleaning and water conservation on cowsheds by the Animal Husbandry Department, plantation by the Public Health Engineering Department, cleaning of water sources, water tanks and other works.
In the meeting, the progress of works under the programme was reviewed. Ajmer District Collector Lokbandhu informed that regular monitoring of the work being done by various departments is being done. The forest department has made pits for more than 5 lakh saplings in the pre-monsoon preparations and preparations are being made for plantation on a large scale.

The Minister for Revenue and Settlement, Shri Hemant Meena on Monday inspected the works being carried out under the Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan. He took stock of the cleanliness activities being carried out on various banks of Anasagar Lake under the three-day Shramdan Abhiyan and appreciated the participation of the administration and the general public in the campaign.
During the inspection, Shri Meena took stock of the cleanliness situation in the lake area and took stock of the work done in the campaign. He directed the officials to complete the remaining works within the stipulated time frame. He directed the officials to make arrangements for regular cleaning, monitoring and maintenance in a planned manner even after the drive.
Shri Meena said that the Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Abhiyan is the result of the vision of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, which aims to promote cleanliness, conservation and public awareness of water sources. He said that this campaign should be seen as a people’s movement and not as a mere government activity. Everyone’s participation is required. Only clean and protected water sources can ensure water security for future generations.
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police Mr Charanjit Singh Sohal, SDM Mr Rahul Sindhu, Joint MC Commissioner Mr Harcharan Singh, Assistant Commissioner Mr Hardeep Singh, ACP Model Town Mr Harinder Singh and others were present.
