CM Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday formally concluded the campaign by performing Ganga Aarti and worshipping the ancient Gadisar Lake in Jaisalmer under the Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan organised across the state from 5th to 20th June.
Shri Sharma offered prayers amid Vedic hymns and performed Jalabhishek and Dugdhabhishek of Gadisar Lake. A large number of youth, women and elderly people participated in the Ganga Aarti on the banks of the lake and pledged to conserve water.
It is noteworthy that ‘Vande Ganga’ water conservation mass campaign was launched across the state on the unique coincidence of World Environment Day and Ganga Dashami with the aim of conserving and nurturing water resources. Under this campaign from June 5 to June 20, the activities of worship and cleanliness at water sources, construction of water storage structures, inspection of completed works and shramdaan were conducted on a large scale. Similarly, Gramme Sabhas, Prabhat Pheris, Kalash Yatra and Chaupals were also organised for public awareness. Seminars and discussions were also organised on the occasion.
On this occasion MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal, SSP Kanwardeep Kaur IPS, Civil Surgeon Dr. Parminder Kaur, Congress leader Amandeep Singh Gora Gill, Ranjit Singh Rana, SMO. Dr. Bholath Shalindar Singh and others were present.
