Swiggy Drops Minis — Why Are Small Businesses Left in the Lurch?
Food and grocery delivery giant Swiggy has announced the shutdown of its online storefront platform, Minis, effective August 10, 2025. The decision marks a strategic shift as the company refocuses on its core food delivery and quick commerce verticals, including Instamart, while winding down non-core businesses.

Launched in late 2022, Minis allowed small businesses and creators to easily set up simple online stores without the need for a website or commission fees. The platform enabled merchants to list products, manage payments and deliveries, and promote their storefronts through social media channels. For a time, Minis stores were also featured within the Swiggy app to improve discoverability.
However, Minis struggled to maintain visibility within Swiggy’s ecosystem, especially after its 2024 repositioning as a “link in bio” landing page similar to tools like Linktree, catering mainly to Instagram-first or WhatsApp-driven sellers. The platform faced stiff competition from players such as Linktree, Dukaan, and Meta’s native storefront solutions, which offer deeper integrations for inventory and customer management.
Sellers on Minis have been notified to complete pending orders, withdraw payouts, and close their storefronts before the August 10 deadline.
Swiggy has not yet issued an official public statement regarding the closure. However, industry observers note that this move is part of Swiggy’s broader strategy to consolidate operations and sharpen focus on scalable, high-frequency categories. Over the last two years, Swiggy has shuttered several non-core units, including Swiggy Genie (pickup and drop service), InsanelyGood (premium grocery platform merged with Instamart), its meat marketplace, and the gourmet grocery vertical Handpicked.
Meanwhile, Swiggy is aggressively expanding Instamart, its grocery and essentials delivery arm, which added 316 dark stores in Q4 FY25 alone, bringing the total count to over 1,000 stores across India. The company also recently launched a new Rs 99 Store on its main app, targeting price-conscious users with single-serve dishes and free delivery.
