Snapchat has reached a significant milestone in India, surpassing 250 million monthly active users (MAUs) as of July 2025. This marks a sharp increase from the 200 million MAUs reported in May 2023, showcasing rapid adoption, especially among young users. A majority of Snapchat’s Indian user base—about 90 percent—falls between the ages of 13 and 34, highlighting the app’s popularity among the country’s youth. While the company has not disclosed the exact number of daily active users (DAUs) in India, Snapchat reported 460 million daily active users globally in Q1 2025.
The growing engagement with augmented reality (AR) features has been a key driver behind the app’s growth in India. Nearly 80 percent of Indian Snapchat users interact with Lenses—Snapchat’s AR effects—on a daily basis, leading to over 80 billion total interactions. This highlights a rising trend of AR adoption in the country’s digital landscape.
Snapchat’s CEO Evan Spiegel has emphasized India’s importance to the company’s growth strategy, stating that lessons learned from the Indian market are helping drive expansion into other geographies.
