Alia Bhatt’s Ex-Assistant – Vedika Shetty’s Fraud Case Expands: Urvashi Rautela’s Family Claims Theft
Mumbai, July 11, 2025 — Just hours after Alia Bhatt’s former assistant, Vedika Prakash Shetty, was arrested for allegedly embezzling nearly ₹77 lakh, new allegations have surfaced — this time from the family of actress Urvashi Rautela.

A Pattern of Alleged Deception
Shetty, who worked closely with Alia Bhatt and her production company from 2021 to 2024, was arrested earlier this week by Juhu Police in Mumbai. Investigators say she used forged bills and signatures to siphon money into personal accounts. Items recovered from her home include luxury gadgets and electronics purchased using the stolen funds.
Now, Meera Rautela, Urvashi Rautela’s mother, has stepped forward with a serious accusation of her own. She claims Vedika worked as Urvashi’s full-time executive assistant between 2015 and 2017, during which time she misused her access to steal valuables from their home.
Alleged Theft During a Family Event
According to Meera Rautela, during the Miss Universe India handover ceremony in 2016, her mother traveled from Nainital to Mumbai and stayed at the Rautela residence. Vedika, who had free access to the home due to her role, allegedly stole cash worth lakhs from the elderly woman’s suitcase while she was away for a medical appointment.
Meera added that she personally witnessed Vedika quietly stealing money from her purse on one occasion during a saree fitting. The family chose not to file a case at the time, but the current developments have prompted them to speak out.
