The newly constituted Economic Advisory Group met CM Yogi Adityanath at his official residence today. The group has been formed under the planning department with the objective of giving suggestions for employment, economic progress and positive image building in the state. The group comprises experts from sectors such as agriculture, education, MSMEs, startups, semiconductors, among others. They shared their views through presentations for transformation in the field of agriculture, transport, energy, irrigation and entrepreneurship.
Appreciating the suggestions, CM Yogi Adityanath said that Uttar Pradesh is today emerging as a major state giving impetus to India’s economy. He said that it is necessary to implement the suggestions received from the Economic Advisory Group in a time-bound manner.
CM Yogi Adityanath informed that the state government has set up ‘Uttar Pradesh Rozgar Mission’, which will start functioning soon. Under this, skill development, language training and international employment opportunities will be made available to the youth. He said that clean and sustainable public transport is being promoted by electric buses in the state, and Uttar Pradesh will soon become the manufacturing hub of electric vehicles. The Hinduja Group’s e-vehicle unit will also start production soon.
Talking about the agriculture sector, CM Yogi Adityanath said that farmers are now getting 15-16 hours of electricity. Under the PM KUSUM scheme of the Central Government, 1 lakh solar panels are being distributed and solarization of tube wells is being done in mission mode. Uttar Pradesh is at the forefront in the country in solarization of private pumps, due to which farmers are getting electricity at low cost.
He also informed that Uttar Pradesh is making tremendous progress in the field of solar energy. In the month of May, an 8000 MW power plant was inaugurated in Kanpur by the Prime Minister. The government plans to generate 22,000 MW of green energy in the state by 2027, making Uttar Pradesh a role model of renewable energy.
In the last 8 years, the government has also strengthened the irrigation system. By completing dozens of projects, additional irrigation facility has been provided to 23 lakh hectares of land. For the first time, the water of Sharda canal has reached Varanasi. Now farmers in Bundelkhand and Purvanchal are growing three crops in a year. Procurement centres have been set up to procure moong, groundnut and maize. Cane farmers have also been paid Rs. 2.85 lakh crore, which is 70 thousand crore more than 1996-2017.
CM Yogi Adityanath also informed that earlier only 500 factories were registered every year, which has now increased to 4,000 per year. Cow-based economy is also being promoted. The state is also among the leading states in fish production. A conducive environment has been created for investment, due to which Uttar Pradesh is fast becoming a major investment hub of the country.
In this meeting, the members of the group appreciated the progress of the state in the past years and suggested that Uttar Pradesh should present its local food products as a global brand. Apart from this, it was recommended to further promote startups and start an IT Talent Mission so that software manufacturing and export can get momentum.
