Public Health Engineering and Public Works Minister, Cabinet Minister Gangwa affirmed the Haryana government’s firm stance against corruption, stating that there will be no tolerance for any form of malpractice.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Minister highlighted that the government’s primary objective is to ensure citizens receive efficient and high-quality basic services. Referring to recent disciplinary actions, he shared that 42 officials and employees from the Public Health Department in Rohtak have been charge-sheeted for irregularities in civil construction work.
“I am personally monitoring the functioning of both departments,” Cabinet Minister Gangwa said, adding that all officials have been instructed to address public grievances as a top priority within defined timeframes.
Preparedness for Monsoon Season
Addressing concerns related to monsoon drainage systems, the Minister assured that effective arrangements have been implemented. This includes the deployment of additional pump sets, and officials have been directed to take swift action in case of complaints related to waterlogging or drainage issues.
Statewide Road Repairs Completed
Cabinet Minister Gangwa reported that the Public Works Department maintains 30,664 kilometers of roads across Haryana. As per the set target up to June 15, pothole repairs have been completed on the entire network. Out of this, 14,000 kilometers of roads under the Defect Liability Period (DLP) received necessary patchwork.
He added that strict measures have been taken against contractors found negligent, including blacklisting of defaulting agencies. For approximately 5,000 kilometers of roads deemed unfit for patchwork, full-scale reconstruction is planned in the next phase.
Support for OBC Communities
Referring to the recent state-level celebration of Maharaja Guru Daksh Prajapati Jayanti in Bhiwani, Gangwa said the event marked a significant moment for the Prajapati community. During the event, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the appointment of a Chairman for the Haryana Mitti Kala Board and a major initiative to allocate Panchayati land with specific Khasra numbers in 2,000 villages within 15 days to boost employment opportunities.
Calling the Prajapati community one of the most backward and hardworking, Cabinet Minister Gangwa criticized previous governments for neglecting their concerns. He emphasized that the current BJP-led administration is committed to respecting and uplifting all communities through inclusive development.
On the SYL Canal Dispute
Responding to a question on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, Gangwa took aim at the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government, accusing it of misleading the public and shirking its responsibility. He stressed the canal’s importance, especially for southern Haryana, and urged the Punjab government to comply with the Supreme Court’s directives rather than deflecting the issue.
