In a focused effort to address the concerns of employees, the Cabinet Sub-Committee held detailed discussions today with various employee unions from Municipal Corporations. The meeting aimed to thoroughly review their demands, with the Sub-Committee instructing the Local Government Department to quickly submit feasible solutions to resolve the legitimate issues raised by the employees.
The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, who also heads the Sub-Committee. He was accompanied by Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, former ministers Brahm Shankar Jimpa (Hoshiarpur MLA) and Balkar Singh (Kartarpur MLA). Senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Tejveer Singh and Hoshiarpur Municipal Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu, were also present.
Representatives from the Punjab Safai Mazdoor Federation and the Municipal Mulazm Action Committee Punjab put forth their demands during the session. Finance Minister Cheema sought an update from the Local Government Department on the progress made since the previous round of talks and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empathetically address employee concerns. He assured union members that the government is dedicated to the well-being of Municipal Corporation employees and will work to resolve their issues fairly and promptly.
The Municipal Mulazm Action Committee Punjab was represented by Ramesh Kumar (Convenor), Kulwant Singh Saini (Patron), Gopal Thapar, and Ashok Tarwan (Co-Convenors). The Punjab Safai Mazdoor Federation was represented by Naresh Kumar (President), Juginderpal (Vice President), Gopal Krishan (Chairman), along with Rakesh and Raj Hans.
