Chhattisgarh NEWS : Under Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, ordinary citizens in Chhattisgarh are now emerging as electricity producers. By installing solar rooftop panels, households are not only meeting their own energy needs but also selling surplus electricity to the grid for additional income.
In Raigarh’s Savitri Nagar, Mr. Pradeep Patel has set up a 3-kilowatt rooftop solar panel system under this scheme, significantly reducing his monthly electricity expenses. He received a total subsidy of ₹1,08,000—₹78,000 from the Central Government and ₹30,000 from the State Government—which was credited to his account within just 10 days of application.
Mr. Patel’s system produces 350–400 units of electricity per month, while his household consumption averages 500 units. As a result, he now pays only for 100–150 units each month. Praising the scheme, Mr. Patel urged other citizens to take advantage of it and expressed gratitude to the government and administration.
Over 197 Households in Raigarh Achieve Energy Self-Reliance through Solar Power
Launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana has already led to the installation of solar rooftop systems in over 197 homes in Raigarh district. Hundreds of families have thus been freed from high electricity bills, becoming self-reliant in the energy sector.
On average, each household is saving between ₹3,000 and ₹5,000 per month through these installations. Beyond the economic benefits, the scheme is helping reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental conservation through the use of clean energy.
Financial Aid and Production Capacity
Under the scheme, a 1 kW plant produces about 120 units per month, with subsidies of ₹30,000 from the Centre and ₹15,000 from the State.
A 2 kW plant produces about 240 units per month, with subsidies of ₹60,000 from the Centre and ₹30,000 from the State.
A 3 kW plant produces about 360 units per month, with subsidies of ₹78,000 from the Centre and ₹30,000 from the State.
The remaining cost is borne by the consumer, with loan facilities available for the same.
Simple Online Application Process”
The scheme operates entirely through an online application system. Consumers can apply via the official portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in, the PM Suryaghar mobile app, the CSPDCL website, the Mor Bijli app, or by calling the toll-free number 1912. They may also visit the nearest CSPDCL office.
