Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at his residence in New Delhi to hold detailed discussions on key issues related to energy and housing in Rajasthan.
Mr. Sharma requested the Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to include Rajasthan’s planned renewable energy evacuation projects under the Green Energy Corridor–III and ensure maximum central grant approval at the earliest. He highlighted that the state has received significant investment proposals in the renewable energy sector, and their implementation requires a robust transmission system for energy evacuation, which would need strong central support.
Request for Jaipur Metro Phase-2 approval
The Chief Minister also urged the Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to grant early approval to the detailed project plan for Jaipur Metro Rail Phase-2, to be developed as a joint venture (50:50). He said that central contribution to this project would help provide Jaipur residents with a reliable and safe public transport system at the earliest.
Support for non-million-plus cities discussed
During the meeting, Mr. Sharma also discussed central assistance for urban local bodies in Rajasthan’s non-million-plus cities under the 15th Finance Commission. He said that this financial support would accelerate the timely completion of ongoing development projects.
The Chief Minister further drew attention to the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP) Phase V, prepared with joint financing from the Asian Development Bank and World Bank, and submitted to the Government of India. He sought positive cooperation from the Union Ministry, noting that this project aims at holistic urban development, including water supply, wastewater management, solid waste management, urban transport improvement, flood management, and heritage conservation. He emphasized that early approval would boost the state’s all-round development and benefit its people.
Mr. Sharma reiterated that Rajasthan has immense potential in energy generation, and to harness these opportunities alongside infrastructure growth in urban areas, central support is essential. The Union Minister assured full cooperation to Rajasthan in these matters.
