School Education Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh has said that the books to be printed by the Textbook Corporation in academic session 2026-27 should be of high quality.
Education Minister said that all processes related to printing work should be completed within the fixed time-frame. He directed that the distribution of textbooks should be completed as soon as the academic session begins, and this arrangement must be ensured. School Education Minister Shri Singh held a meeting of the Governing Body of the Textbook Corporation at the Ministry on Wednesday. Secretary School Education Dr. Sanjay Goyal, Commissioner Public Education Smt. Shilpa Gupta, and representatives of Finance and Board of Secondary Education were also present in the meeting.
In the meeting, MD of the Textbook Corporation Shri Vinay Nigam informed that about 9 crore textbooks will be printed in academic session 2026-27. For this, the tender process will be conducted under e-tendering. The corporation will complete the printing work of all textbooks by 10 March 2026 for academic session 2026-27. It was informed in the meeting that in April 2025 this year, the distribution of free textbooks had started as soon as the academic session began. Till now, almost all textbooks have been distributed to students. It was also informed that the corporation has sanctioned grant amounts to some government schools for playgrounds, additional rooms, and construction of new classrooms.
Manuscripts of Books Will Be Available in One And A Half Months
It was also informed in the meeting that the manuscripts of books from NCERT and SCERT for the next academic session will be made available to the Textbook Corporation till the end of September 2025 by the State Education Centrer. Madhya Pradesh is among those selected states in the country where free textbooks are distributed to children as soon as the session begins.
Content Development in Local Languages
The School Education Department has developed content in 8 local languages – Bundeli, Bagheli, Malvi, Niwari, Gondi, Bhili, Bareli, and Korku. This effort of the department has been made with the objective of fostering interest in local languages among children.
