Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma said that with the steady rise in both domestic and foreign tourists, Rajasthan is emerging as a leading state in the country’s tourism sector.
Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal emphasized that development plans must be prepared for the enhancement of historical, natural, and religious sites to further boost tourist inflow, keeping pace with changing trends in tourism. He also directed that these works be completed within set timelines with continuous review, and that suggestions from public representatives and local residents be incorporated in the planning.
Presiding over a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office on Friday regarding budget announcements and other important initiatives of the Tourism and Art & Culture Department, Shri Sharma instructed officials to prioritize the phased execution of key projects such as upgrading and conservation of state museums, construction of panoramas, and restoration of stepwells. He also directed that all essential aspects related to projects be included in the DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) for major tourist site development and asked officials to conduct monitoring every three months.
Boost to Water and Desert Adventure Activities
The Chief Minister noted that infrastructure development at religious tourist destinations would generate employment opportunities at the local level. He directed officials to prepare a development plan for the Brahma Temple Corridor and ghats in Pushkar. He also instructed the speedy preparation of DPRs for projects aimed at promoting rural tourism and gave guidelines for framing development plans for major heritage tourism sites announced in the 2025–26 budget. He further called for early preparation of guidelines to promote water and desert adventure activities and emphasized that Rajasthan’s rich heritage sites should be promoted as premier wedding destinations.
Development of a Tribal Tourist Circuit
Shri Sharma asked officials to plan travel marts in Udaipur and Jodhpur to boost tourism promotion. He directed the development of Beneshwar Dham, Rameshwar Ghat, and Begod Sangam as a Triveni Sangam and instructed the creation of a Tribal Tourist Circuit to promote tourism in tribal regions of the state.
During the meeting, a video documentary was presented showcasing the development works carried out at tourist sites over the past one and a half years by the Tourism and Art & Culture Department. Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Diya Kumari, Rajasthan Heritage Authority Chairman Shri Omkar Singh Lakhawat, along with senior officials of the Tourism and Art & Culture Department, were also present.
