Govt of Punjab : Government has directed district administrations and officials of concerned departments to stay deployed on ground round-clock to ensure rescue and relief operations continue on a war footing in flood-hit areas.
Govt of Punjab : In line with this, all officers’ and staff leaves have been cancelled. This was conveyed by Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal and Food & Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak during their visit to the affected districts of Pathankot and Gurdaspur. The ministers reviewed the situation arising from heavy rainfall in J&K and Himachal Pradesh, which has pushed Ranjit Sagar Dam to near full capacity, resulting in the release of over 1.10 lakh cusecs of water into the Ravi River. The unprecedented flow in the Ravi, Ujh, and Jalalia rivers has inundated several villages in Narot Jaimal Singh and Bamial blocks.

The ministers said that rescue operations are being carried out on priority, with community kitchens and relief camps established at multiple locations. Helicopters are also being deployed to evacuate stranded people. Seven family members trapped in Taas village are being rescued, while nearly 70 residents have already been evacuated from Jagochak Tanda village.
The state government’s immediate focus is on safeguarding lives and property, minimizing damage, and ensuring timely delivery of relief supplies. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann is closely monitoring the situation and has assured adequate compensation for flood-related losses. A special girdawari will be carried out to assess crop damage and provide relief to farmers.
Officials confirmed that several dhussi bundhs along the Ravi have been damaged, affecting around 15 villages in Dinanagar tehsil of Gurdaspur. District administration, BSF, Army, SDRF, and NDRF teams are actively engaged in relief and rescue. The government urged citizens to stay away from riverbanks and avoid falling prey to rumours.
