Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh has ordered a detailed probe into a shocking incident in which a dog was reportedly spotted carrying an infant’s head near Ward No. 4 of Patiala’s Rajindra Hospital
After being alerted, Punjab Health Minister Balbir directed the hospital administration and local police to investigate the matter from every angle. The severed head has been handed over to the forensic team for examination.
Rajindra Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Vishal Chopra, in his preliminary report, confirmed that all newborns delivered recently are accounted for, with no missing cases. He further stated that while three child deaths were recorded recently, the bodies were duly handed over to the families with proper documentation and signatures.
Dr. Chopra said the incident does not appear to have originated within the hospital premises, suggesting it may be a case of remains being dumped from outside. Police have been informed, and a thorough investigation is underway.
The Health Minister assured that the state government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and will ensure a fair and comprehensive inquiry.
