Last year, Daksh Gupta drew widespread criticism after endorsing 14-hour workdays as the ideal for ambitious professionals. Now, months later, he’s doubling down—arguing that Silicon Valley is full of people working 12-hour days, six days a week, and doing it by choice.
In a recent profile by The San Francisco Standard, Gupta was labeled “the poster child of AI boom’s grindcore culture”—a nod to the no-days-off mentality that’s quietly dominating parts of the tech world. And for Gupta, that’s not a problem. In fact, it’s a point of pride.
“The younger generation is leaning into discipline,” he told the publication, even suggesting that cultural mainstays like Burning Man have lost their appeal. In his view, tech’s new wave isn’t chasing self-indulgence—they’re chasing output.
Gupta’s company, Greptile, builds AI tools for developers and has gained traction in the hyper-competitive AI space. But while the product is gaining momentum, it’s Gupta’s personal views on work, ambition, and lifestyle that keep landing him in the spotlight.
