‘Little Hearts’ Brings Humor and Heart to Telugu Cinema
Telugu cinema continues its shift toward fresh storytelling with the release of Little Hearts, a charming romantic comedy directed by Sai Marthand. Featuring newcomers Mouli Tanuj Prasanth and Shivani Nagaram in lead roles, the film has been receiving praise for its irreverent humor, relatable characters, and earnest performances.
Little Hearts centers on two so-called “misfits” navigating academic failure, parental pressure, and self-doubt — all while stumbling into an unexpected romance. Akhil (Mouli Tanuj), who struggles to clear engineering entrance exams, is forced into long-term coaching by his overbearing father (played by Rajeev Kanakala). Meanwhile, Khatyayini (Shivani Nagaram), the daughter of a doctor, is attempting to crack the MBBS entrance for the fourth time.
Set against the backdrop of intense educational expectations, the film humorously explores the relationship that blooms between these two underachievers. But rather than glorifying their struggles, Little Hearts leans into its own absurdity, striking a clever balance between comedy and introspection.
