CM Shri Nitish Kumar today launched the process of receiving applications related to Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana and online portal for urban areas from Sankalp at 1 Anne Marg. On the occasion,
CM Shri Nitish also released the application form related to the scheme. A short film on the work done and schemes being run by the state government towards women empowerment was screened before the Chief Minister.
From 1, Aney Marg Complex, the Chief Minister flagged off 250 awareness vehicles related to ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana’. Through all these awareness vehicles, information will be provided for the next 20 days through video at the identified places by the livelihood supported cluster level associations in different areas of the state.
During the launch programme, the Chief Minister said that every effort is being made to make women self-reliant. The state government is committed to the development of women. We decided to give 50 per cent reservation to women in Panchayati Raj Institutions in 2006 and in Municipal elections in 2007. The work of increasing the number of self-help groups was started by taking a loan from the World Bank. As a result, there are now more than 11 lakh self-help groups with more than 1 crore 40 lakh Jeevika Didis. In 2024, we started the formation of self-help groups in urban areas, the number of which has reached 37 thousand so far, with which 3 lakh 85 thousand Jeevika Didis have been connected. He said that women are becoming educated, aware and self-reliant by joining self-help groups. In 2013, 35 per cent reservation was given to women in police restoration and in 2016, 35 per cent reservation was given to women in all government services. We imposed prohibition only on the demand of women.
Many important schemes like Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana, Mukhyamantri Balika Cycle Yojana are being run for the upliftment of women. Special provisions have been made for enrolment in educational institutions to enable more women to pursue higher education. Educated and self-reliant women are the identity of a strong society.
It is worth mentioning that it was decided to launch the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana’ on 29 August 2025. This scheme will provide employment to women, increase the income of the family and improve their standard of living. People of Bihar will not have to go out of Bihar to other states for work. Under this scheme, one woman from every family of the state will be given an amount of Rs 10,000 as the first installment for employment of her choice from the month of September itself. Under this, additional financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh will be given as per the requirement after the women start employment. The scheme aims to empower women in both rural and urban areas to become self-reliant and strengthen the economic status of their families and society through self-employment by connecting them to various livelihood opportunities.
