“I am not averse to any investigation. If the youth want a CBI investigation, I will get that done too. Currently, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is handling the case, which is a state agency,” Dhami told reporters. His remarks come a day after former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also suggested a CBI probe if the aspirants insisted on it, reflecting mounting pressure on the government to ensure a fair and impartial investigation.
During the event, CM Pushkar Dhami highlighted the significance of the Swadeshi movement, emphasizing that it is more than just a slogan but the foundation of a self-reliant India. He stressed that the campaign embodies India’s civilizational values and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming India into a self-sufficient nation by 2047.
“Swadeshi has been our way of life since ancient times, deeply rooted in our Sanatan culture. It is also a tribute to our farmers, artisans, traders, and entrepreneurs,” the Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami said. He further noted that embracing indigenous products strengthens the nation’s economy and fosters a deeper connection with the land.

Pushkar Dhami recalled the historic Swadeshi movement’s role in India’s freedom struggle, mentioning iconic leaders like Lokmanya Tilak, Maharishi Aurobindo, and Mahatma Gandhi. He praised Prime Minister Modi’s recent decision to reduce GST rates starting September 22, a move well received by both traders and consumers.
Expanding on the modern relevance of Swadeshi, Dhami said it extends beyond traditional goods such as Khadi to cutting-edge technologies including the BrahMos missile, Tejas aircraft, semiconductors, UPI, and Digital India initiatives. “The production of PPE kits and vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic is a testament to India’s indigenous capabilities,” he added.
Focusing on Uttarakhand’s contributions, the Chief Minister highlighted initiatives like the House of the Himalayas and “One District, Two Products,” which promote local specialties such as honey, millets, ragi, spices, and medicinal plants. He also stressed that rural self-employment, small-scale industries, and youth-led startups would receive priority under the Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar Ghar Swadeshi campaign.
Appealing to citizens ahead of major festivals such as Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali, and wedding seasons, Dhami urged everyone to support local products. “To realize the vision of a self-reliant India, we must wholeheartedly embrace indigenous goods. Collective efforts will take us closer to Prime Minister Modi’s call of Make in India, Make for the World,” he said.
