India’s Dominant Win in Asia Cup 2025
In a thrilling final held in Dubai, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets, securing their ninth Asia Cup title. This year, India triumphed over Pakistan three times in the tournament, deeply wounding Pakistani cricket fans. The ongoing pain and frustration in Pakistan escalated when PM Modi posted a tweet referencing “Operation Sindur” late at night after the victory.
PM Modi’s Celebratory Tweet
PM Modi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the Indian cricket team. His tweet read, “Operation Sindur on the cricket field, the result is the same, India has won. Congratulations to our cricketers.” This message indirectly referenced India’s military success, which reportedly rattled Pakistani officials.
Pakistani Ministers React Sharply
The tweet reportedly triggered a strong reaction from Pakistan’s Home Minister and Defence Minister. Pakistani Home Minister and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) head Mohsin Naqvi responded on X with a post criticizing PM Modi’s comment. Naqvi claimed, “If pride is measured by war, history has already recorded your shameful defeat at Pakistan’s hands. No cricket match can change this truth. Bringing war into sports shows frustration and insults the spirit of the game.”
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also condemned PM Modi’s tweet, saying it violated the spirit of sportsmanship and could affect peace and stability in the region.
Why Did Naqvi’s Mental Composure Falter?
Mohsin Naqvi’s harsh reaction has been perceived as a sign of his shaken mental balance. Naqvi’s reference to “shameful defeat” contradicts historical facts, as India has consistently outperformed Pakistan in multiple conflicts: the 1965 and 1971 wars, the 1999 Kargil conflict, and recently “Operation Sindur,” where India reportedly struck deep inside Pakistan to dismantle critical targets.
Operation Sindur: A Sharp Reminder
“Operation Sindur” was a successful Indian military operation that dealt a heavy blow to Pakistan’s strategic capabilities. PM Modi’s tweet cleverly linked this military success with the cricket victory, symbolizing India’s dominance on both fields — sports and defense.
