Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami hands over ₹50 lakh financial assistance to families of three deceased UPNL employees under the Corporate Salary Package scheme, reaffirming the state’s commitment to employee welfare and support.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday extended crucial financial support to the families of three Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPNL) employees who tragically lost their lives in separate road accidents while on duty. Under the Corporate Salary Package scheme facilitated by Punjab National Bank, the CM handed over cheques worth ₹50 lakh each to the bereaved families.
The three employees honored were Brijesh Kumar from the Electricity Distribution Division in Jaspur, Tasleem from BRIDCUL Dehradun, and Sanjeev Kumar from the Electricity Distribution Division in Haridwar. Their untimely deaths occurred in November 2024, January 2025, and February 2025, respectively, marking a somber reminder of the risks faced by frontline workers.
Addressing the gathering, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami acknowledged that while no amount of money could replace the loss of life, this financial assistance aims to provide much-needed relief and support to the families during their difficult times. He reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to ensuring the safety, welfare, and dignity of all employees, including contractual and UPNL staff.

The Corporate Salary Package initiative represents a significant partnership between the Uttarakhand government and multiple banks to offer comprehensive facilities and insurance benefits to government, semi-government, and UPNL employees. This scheme guarantees financial security for dependents in the unfortunate event of an employee’s accidental death.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed appreciation for Punjab National Bank’s commitment in facilitating this welfare program for UPNL employees, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in strengthening employee support systems.
The financial assistance ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary Deependra Chaudhary, Additional Secretary Manmohan Mainali, Major General (Retd.) Shammi Sabharwal, UPNL Managing Director J.N.S. Bisht, along with key representatives from Punjab National Bank such as Zonal Head Anupam, Deputy General Manager Abhinandan, and AGM Ajit Kumar Upadhyay.
This initiative underscores the Uttarakhand government’s proactive approach to employee welfare, aiming to create a secure and supportive environment for its workforce and their families.
