The UP Government has announced a generous Diwali bonus scheme for nearly 14.82 lakh state employees for the financial year 2024–25, alongside a special free LPG refill benefit for women beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). This festive initiative aims to boost employee morale and ease financial burdens on low-income households ahead of the Diwali celebrations.

Diwali Bonus Details for UP Government Employees

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the Diwali bonus as a token of appreciation for the dedication and hard work of UP Government staff. According to the Finance Department’s official order issued under the Chief Minister’s guidance, the bonus will be calculated based on a maximum monthly salary of Rs 7,000, covering 30 days of attendance. This translates to a bonus amount of Rs 6,908 per eligible employee.

The scheme covers employees falling under pay matrix level 8, whose monthly salaries range between Rs 47,600 and Rs 1,51,100. Beneficiaries include staff from state government departments, local bodies funded by the government, and employees of UP Government-aided educational institutions.

The total budget allocated for this Diwali bonus is Rs 1,022 crore, reflecting the government’s commitment to rewarding public sector workers and encouraging festive joy among their families.

Timely Bonus Disbursement Scheduled

Officials have been directed to ensure the prompt release of bonuses, with payments expected to be completed by the second week of October, just in time for the Diwali festivities. The government believes that this timely financial support will uplift employees’ spirits and help them manage their expenses during the festival season.

Free LPG Refill Scheme for Women Beneficiaries

In addition to the employee bonus, the UP government announced a free LPG cylinder refill scheme for approximately 1.86 crore women beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Under this initiative, beneficiaries will pay for their LPG cylinder refills upfront, after which the government will reimburse the full amount directly to their bank accounts linked to the Ujjwala scheme.

This reimbursement is designed to reduce the financial pressure on households during the festive period and promote cleaner cooking fuels among women in Uttar Pradesh.
