Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami approved ₹54.72 crore for the Free Textbook Scheme, ₹57.14 crore for salaries, and ₹276.25 crore for key development projects in the state.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a budget of ₹54.72 crore under the Free Textbook Scheme for the financial year 2025–26, benefitting students from Classes 9 to 12 across government and aided schools in the state. In addition, the Chief Minister has also released ₹57.14 crore towards the salaries of staff members working in non-government colleges, ₹47.75 crore for works related to the Maa Nanda Raj Jaat Yatra, and ₹276.25 crore for various development projects in the state.
Free Textbooks for Secondary Students
The state government’s decision aims to ensure educational equality and quality learning opportunities for students belonging to general, OBC, SC, and ST categories. Under this initiative, free textbooks will be distributed to students of government and aided secondary schools from Classes 9 to 12.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that this move will help promote education among economically weaker and underprivileged students, enabling them to pursue their studies without financial hurdles. He emphasized that providing equal opportunities in education remains one of the top priorities of the Uttarakhand government.

₹57.14 Crore Released for Salaries in Non-Government Colleges
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also approved the release of ₹57.14 crore for salaries and other dues of employees working in 21 non-government colleges under the Higher Education Department for the final four months of FY 2025–26. This step ensures that staff members receive their salaries on time, providing much-needed relief to educators.
Funds for Maa Nanda Raj Jaat Yatra Works
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami sanctioned ₹47.75 crore for various projects associated with the Maa Nanda Raj Jaat Yatra in Chamoli district’s Tharali constituency. This includes ₹2.69 crore for the surface improvement of the Dewal-Mundoli-Vaan motor road and ₹15.06 crore for the tarring of the Gwaldam-Nandkesari road. These developments will enhance connectivity for pilgrims and locals participating in the revered cultural and religious event.
₹276.25 Crore Approved for Development Projects
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also granted approval for ₹276.25 crore under NABARD funding for a total of 73 projects under the Irrigation and Public Works Departments. Additionally, funds have been allocated for road, bridge, and helipad construction works across several districts under the State Plan, aimed at accelerating infrastructure development across Uttarakhand.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that these initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive development, educational upliftment, and infrastructure expansion, ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every section of society.
